A lifecycle email tool is not a MAP
Inflection is a credible modern product. The email and journey builders are clean, onboarding is fast, and for product-led lifecycle messaging it does its core job well. If the only thing you need is lifecycle email, it is a reasonable choice.
The problem is that most enterprise B2B teams evaluating Inflection are not shopping for a lifecycle email tool. They are trying to replace Marketo or Pardot, and that requires a full marketing automation platform: programs, nurtures, scoring, attribution, landing pages, events, and ads, all running on a complete view of the customer. Inflection started as a lifecycle email tool and still mostly is one. Conversion was built from the start to be the full MAP.
The data model gap
Inflection supports core records only. There are no custom objects, from Salesforce or the warehouse. For a B2B team, that means the data that defines your GTM motion has nowhere to live: product usage, billing, account hierarchies, expansion signals. The workaround is flattening everything onto the Lead or Contact, or orchestrating around the platform with middleware.
In Conversion, custom objects are first-class, whether they come from Salesforce or your warehouse. You can trigger workflows from changes on any object, reference any field in templating, and segment across objects with deeply nested conditions. Opportunity data flows in natively, so campaigns and reporting connect directly to revenue.
Campaigns, sync, and attribution
Marketing teams organize their work in Salesforce Campaigns, and attribution depends on membership and status data flowing both directions. Inflection does not sync Campaigns bi-directionally and has no equivalent of Marketo Programs. Without the ability to assign token values, add assets, duplicate programs, update member statuses and fields, and sync it all back to Salesforce, organizing marketing efforts and reporting on them becomes genuinely difficult.
Conversion’s Salesforce sync is bi-directional across Leads, Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, Campaigns, and custom objects, with Marketo-style Programs built in. And when something looks off, full sync logs show exactly what changed and when. Inflection does not expose sync logs, so debugging integration issues means guesswork and support tickets.
The rest of the GTM motion
A real MAP covers more than email. Inflection has no landing pages, no asset or file hosting, no ads product, no ABM features, and no webinar or event integrations. Each of those gaps means another tool to buy, integrate, and reconcile data across.
Conversion ships all of it natively. Landing pages and hosted assets live next to your emails. Segments sync to LinkedIn, Meta, and Google as custom audiences in real time. Account activity timelines and account-level segmentation support ABM motions. Zoom, Cvent, and Zuddl integrations bring registrations and attendance in as workflow triggers. One platform, one data model, one place to report from.
AI Agents that do the work
Inflection’s AI is a chat assistant. It can answer questions and help draft content, but the human still runs every workflow. That is a useful feature, not a different way of working.
Conversion has Agents that complete tasks end to end. They can edit existing workflows and emails, run on recurring schedules to complete work or analyze data, read contact data to answer questions like why a specific lead never hit MQL, produce reports on MQLs and opportunity status over any period, and create custom fields when the data model needs to grow. Inside workflows, AI decision nodes handle routing, scoring, and personalization using your full customer context. The output is fewer manual ops hours per week, not just better drafts.
Enterprise readiness
The operational details matter at enterprise scale. Inflection updates audiences on a 10-minute cycle, offers no API, and has no role-based access control. Conversion updates audiences in real time, exposes a full API for anything you need to build, and supports RBAC so large teams can work in the platform safely.
What migration looks like
Every Conversion migration is led by a dedicated deployment strategist who manages the process end to end. They migrate campaigns, templates, forms, and integrations, and they stay engaged through launch. Teams typically run in parallel through cutover so nothing goes dark. Migrations from Inflection tend to be shorter than from legacy MAPs because the program structures are simpler. Most of the time is spent standing up the capabilities Inflection did not offer in the first place.
